Blue Fern Studios - February Projects

 Hello Blue Fern Studios friends.
It's Lydia here today showing you my 3 projects for February.
So excited to be using the soon to be released Chesterville Collection. The first 2 layouts are made withe that and the third with the Serendipity Collection. Here goes!

Capture the Moment

For my back ground work I started off with using the Postal Textures Stamp and Antique Gold Embossing Powder to create some interest. After that I followed with a stencil and paste.
The Swirly Doodle and Swirly Circle Chipboard pieces I embossed with Black Sand BFS Embossing Powder and the Roman Clock Set and Captured Words with Copper BFS Embossing Powder.

Once I had all the preparations done it was time to start layering. Adding Late Winter Lilies and other embellishments to get the layout together. Some finishing touches with some mists and ink splatters and we're done with the first one.

Roman Clock Set - Small

Late Winter Lilies

For my second layout with the Chestervile collection I used another picture from our trip to the Grand Canyon. The mountains fit perfectly with the colors of these papers. To make things pop I decided to go with a contrasting color. I had my eye on the gorgeous Peacock BFS Embossing Powder for the Manchester Frame. Working my way back to all the other accents with that.

For my background I used the stamp and embossing technique again. Going with the Scratched stamp and Antique Gold BFS Embossing Powder. Followed by a stencil and paste, some misting and ink splatters.

The Notebook Edges chipboard piece I embossed with Black Sand BFS Embossing Powder. The Seasonal Wild Flowers and Journey, Explore, Discover chipboard pieces with Oatmeal BFS Embossing Powder. Adding Autumn Glitter to the tips. With this all prepared I cut some pieces of paper from the Chester and Holmes papers to create some layers adding the chipboard pieces and Dark Tropic Lilies and other embellishments to finish of the layout. A final touch of ink splatters and we're done.

Memories Captures

For my last layout this month I chose the brighter color scheme of the Serendipity Collection. Getting ready for Spring this part of the world.

For the back ground I started with stamping around the page with a combination of stamps, Postal Textures, Christmas Collage & Shabby Edges. Followed by a stencil using an assortment of pastes. The gorgeous Janie's Frame chipboard piece was embossed with Oatmeal BFS Embossing Powder. After it was done I cut it through half to position on either side of the page.

I fuzzy cut some pieces from the Merriment sheet to use on the layout and several butterflies. Assembling it all I used an assortment of BFS Flowers : Dark Tropc Lilies, Soft Blossoms & Courtship Roses. Adding some final touches with some Burnt Copper & Sunshine Glitter for a bit of extra sparkle and we're done.

Our Story - Maja Design - February Mood board

Hello my wonderful Paper friends.
This month is the month of Love and what better way to celebrate then to use one of my favorite wedding photo's on a layout.

For this layout I'm using the gorgeous Maja Design February Mood Board.
The Summertime (in the Garden) papers are just perfect for the feel I wanted to go for.

After using a clear Gesso on my background I started with a combination of stamps. If you look carefully you can see the old car stamp from Prima, peeking through on the left. This is a similar car we had on the day. I thought it was very fitting. After the stamping I continued on with the stencil and paste. Now that I have some of my texture I continued with some watered down gesso to soften the background at some spots. Followed by 2 colors of Color Blooms.

Having done most of the background work, it was time to get started with my layering. I cut a couple of pieces of paper and one from the die-cut sheet to create them, started stacking chipboard, flowers and all sorts of other elements to create the desired look.

I just wanted to use a lot of flowers this time and I think it really worked. I love all the colors and different shapes and sizes in the flower arrangement.

Now that we have that done some final touches with microbeads, splash-inks to finsh of the layout. I hope you like the layout. I had a lot of fun creating this one.

As always I appreciate you dropping by my blog. It means a lot that you support me and want to have a closer look. If there are any questions or you'd like to know more about the layout just drop me a line.
Thank you and I hope you'll have a wonderful day!

Maja Design February Challenge - Love!

February is the month of Love! This year I've not used the traditional colors yet on any of my projects, so it was about time.

Maja Design is having a beautiful mood board this month and I've made this card for it.

The Summertime collection is perfect for this challenge.

I paired it with some chipboards and gorgeous flowers from the latest Prima collections.

For my background I used a couple of stamps and stencils with paste. All in all creating quite the layered effect.

A  couple of close-ups.

Thank you so much for stopping by and having a closer look.

Hello Paper and ScrapBerry's friends. February is of course the month of love. Although traditionally we would think of using colors like red and pink, the new Art of Nature collection is so very romantic and well suited to create such a layout.

For my background I used a combination of stencils with inks, pastes and mists to create some interest. I love how you can still see all the words still coming through.

This collection has so many of papers I could fuzzy cut, and fuzzy cut I did! Creating layers and layers. Adding chipboard pieces, flowers and other embellishments to compliment the look. Some final splatters and the layout was done!

Thank you so much for looking!

Together & Forever!

Hello Paper friends!

So it's been a while since I did a challenge. It's been a bit of a roller coaster ride here and have not had a lot of time to do anything besides my DT work. It's fun to do something else again too.

More Than Words has this wonderful challenge and of course it's my favorite subject. Together. Not a hard one to do. 7Dots Studios has a beautiful challenge too and just to make it more interesting the girls from the old Flying Unicorn Creative Team were talking about using more of our older stash, so I'm challenging myself to start using more of that too.

Now let's get started on this layout. For my background I began with some stamping work. A combination of Prima and BoBunny Stamps. Next I used an UmWow Mask with a combination of Prima paste and Lumiere Turqoise Pearl. The color fit perfect with the background.

Adding to the background work splatters of Color Blooms, Splash-inks, glitter, Prills and grit. All the items are listed below. Time to get the layers done. Using some of the tags from the 7Dots Studios Cotton Candy Dreams collection, chipboard frame, bubbles chipboard and some other pieces. Adding some flowers and to finish it of some of the great tiny titles.

I had great fun making this layout! Thank you so much for looking!

Card - True Love is Forever!

Hello ScrapBerry's and paper friends!
Today I'm sharing with you a new card using the brand new collection Cherished Jewels and you can use it for lots of occasions. Of course we're just around the corner for Valentine's Day and this card will work really well for that, or for an Anniversary it would work just as well.

I picked my papers from the 6x6 collection and cut them to size. From the sides from one of the sheets I fuzzy cut the flower borders tucking them in under the edges of the middle strip. The sentiments on these papers are just wonderful.

To decorate the card I chose an assortment of ScrapBerry's flowers and finished it off with putting some gesso here and there.

Thank you so much for looking!

ScrapBerry's - Love Heart Decoration - Forever

Hello  ScrapBerry's and paper friends. Lydia here today sharing a fun project for the upcoming Valentine's Day. Some of us like to go all out and decorate our house or want to make something extra special for the one we love.

I got a wooden heart from the craft-store and painted it in purple and pink and dry-brushed it with white gesso. Once dry I went around the outline with the Happy Days stamp. I just inked part of the stamp and could manipulate the stamp enough to folow the heart shape. I did this on both sides. On the back you can write a sentiment or stamp something special.

On the front I started layering with papers from the Juliet collection, Polymer items that I had colored in, doilies, flowers to create a multi-dimensional heart. To finish it of I went around with some white gesso for extra accents.

I hope you enjoyed the project. Thank you so much for looking!
